Why Students Fail the 2012 ALS A&E Exams

Many of those who attended the formal and informal classes for the 2012 Alternative Learning System (ALS) Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) regularly and took the examinations in November and December 2012 are wondering why they failed the test.



One of the main reasons why students fail in the ALS is over-confidence. Some thought that the exam was simple and easy. It is only multiple choice and yet many chose the wrong answer.

Another reason is that they failed in the essay part. It is always a reminder that if students failed in the essay part although they passed the multiple choice, the grade will be fail. One advice is to practice writing essays, learn the components and structure of a good essay and read essays, whether in English or Filipino.

Many students did not understand the question that's why they chose the incorrect answer. It is important that students in the ALS should learn the English language since most questions are in English. In this regard, teachers must devote more time teaching English because if students do not understand the language, they will surely fail the test.

    Sa mga hindi po pumasa sa exam wag po kayo mawalan ng pag-asa,nandyan lang po lagi ang diyos para gabayan tayong lahat.

    pwede na po bang makuha ung certificate sa ALS center? sabi po kasi ng teacher namin na kapag kukunin na ung certificate ipapakita lang daw ung claim stub?

    Pumasa ako sa first try ko nung November 25 2012. It is way too easy even for Someone as like Me. I was as confident as an Uchiha and did not even study for the test. Hell, I did not even break a sweat.


    Maybe the former formal schooling helped a bit? (MAYBE MORE THAN A BIT.)

    Wag naman pong masyadong magyabang yung mga ibang passers kasi tulad nang mga hindi pinalad makapasa ay naghirap din po sila sa exam na ito. Pareha-parehas lang po tayong umasa. Yung mga pumasa be thankful naman po tayo at cheer up natin yung mga hindi pumasa para makapag-motivate tayo at inspire sa kanila na mas lalong galingan next time.

    Correct, I'm one of the passers of ALS A & E Test. Well, I also went to a formal school before.., but I gave it up, because of discrimination. Well, it always happens because of other people's insecurities. Haha!!..--Pero di naman dapat ipagmayabang na nakapasa ka, I mean pwede mo namang ipagmalaki in a good way, para di ka makapang-discourage ng ibang tao. So, I'm very thankful that I've passed the examination. Im excited to enter the new chapter in my life! Which is, to go to college! ^^ Sa mga hindi po nakapasa wag po kayong mawalan ng hope. Always THINK POSITIVE!! :-)

    FYI: Hindi po maaari na kumuha ng pagsusulit ang isa o higit pang mga kliyente na hindi "OPISYAL" na naka-rehistro o nagpatala o HINDI pumasok sa klase ng Alternative Learning System. Bawal ho ang :"walk-in applicants" KUNG MAYROON MAN may natanggap kama ni MEMOERANDUM mula DepED Central Office at Division Office kaso wala ...ipararating ko po sa kinauukulan sa amin: Malolos City Division Office- Education Supervisor for ALS - via DIVISION SUPERINTENDENT THEN to THE regional office ng REGION III - PAMAPANGA at tutungo sa lamesa ng aming BALS director: Madam Carolina Guerrero para maging malinaw sa madla.     Good day! Just want to react on your post regarding this: "most questions are in English." according to our learners who took the test only English Communications was English and most of the questions are tagalog, even mathematics.
    Secondary Level: 4 hours and 15 minute
    Composition wring 30 minutes
    Bahagi I Kasanayang Pangkomunikasyon 45 minutes
    Bahagi II English Communications Skills 30 minutes
    Bahagi III Matematika at Agham 60 minutes
    Bahagi IV Kabuhayan at Likas na yaman 45 minutes
    Bahagi V Pagpapalawak ng Pananaw 45 minutes
    They will start at 8:15 and End at 12:40 noon.

    The problem is, the 250 items + essay was given for only 4 hours and 15 minutes(30 minutes for the essay test) Which mean 225 minutes for 250 item test. they are given only less than a minute to answer every item.

    Hi I am one of the passer of A&E test this november 10, 2013... I would like to share my experience of being an ALS student... Nung una nagaalinlangan akong pumasok sa als kasi iba sia sa formal school but as days past by nasisiyahan na rin akong magaral sa ALS.. maraming modules na pedeng basahin sa ALS office at nasisiyahan akong basahin ang mga ito kahit na hindi lahat ito kasama sa A&E test... Masaya akong natututunan ang mga yun...
    BAGO pa dumating ang araw ng A&E test nagaral ako binalikan ko ung mga pinagaralan namin sa review at nagsanay akong gumawa ng essay ... At ang pinakaimportante ang magdasal bago magexam at pagkatapos magexam.. :))
