Learning Competencies for Learning Strand 3 - Mathematical and Problem-Solving Skills - Junior High School (JHS) 


1. Adds and subtracts 1 to 2-digit whole numbers without regrouping

Example:

What is the sum of the flowers inside the boxes? 

A. 4 B. 16 C. 17 D. 60


2. Compares fractions using the symbol >, < or =

Example:

Which of the symbols below correctly compares the given fractions?

         2/3      3/7

A. = B. < C. > D. ≤


3. Solves one-step problems related to daily life involving addition or subtraction without regrouping

Example:

Charity bought a dress in a boutique. If she received ₱ 235.00 as a change, how much did she give to the cashier if the cost of the dress was ₱ 1,215.00 ?

A. ₱ 2,550.00  B. ₱ 1,450.00 C. ₱ 1,500.00 D. ₱ 980.00


4. Multiplies and divides a 3 to 5- digit whole number by 2 to 3- digit number

Example:

The quotient of 344,000 and 400 is ?

5. Applies knowledge of multiplication and division to solve daily life problems

Example:

Westy owed the cooperative ₱ 18,800.00. If he plans to pay it at the end of 8 months, how much should he save every month?
