Some Microsoft Word Terms to Ponder

 

Microsoft Word Terms


Alignment =The horizontal position of text within the width of a line or between tab stops.

Border = A straight vertical or horizontal line between columns in a section, next to or around paragraphs and graphics, or in a table.

        Bullet = A small graphic, usually a round or square dot, often used to identify items in a list.

Clipboard = A Temporary storage area for cut or copied text or graphics.

Cut = To remove selected text or a graphic from a document so you can paste it to another place in the document.

Dialog box = A box that displays the available command options for you to review or change.

File = A document that has been created, then saved, under a unique file name.

Font = A name given to a collection of characters (letters, numerals, symbols, and punctuation marks) with a specific design.

Font size = Refers to Physical size of text, measured in points (pts).

Font style = Refers to whether text appears as bold, italicized, or underlined, or any combinations of these formats.

Line spacing =The height of a line of text, including extra spacing.

Paste = To insert cut or copied text into a document from the temporary storage area called the Clipboard.
